MCA’s Rick Barton, AIA and Cara Versace, AIA attended the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums’ 13th Annual Building Symposium “Building Museums 2018” in Philadelphia, PA. on March 9-11th. It was a great opportunity to re-connect with clients and colleagues for lively conversations and presentations on the issues involved with museum building projects.
The symposium offered a day-long workshop on elements needed to design, plan and build a successful new museum or addition to an existing museum, with an emphasis on how to identify project “red flags”. There were numerous, very informative behind-the-scenes tours of existing facilities, and down-time opportunities to catch up with like-minded colleagues interested in promoting the cultural importance of our museums. They brought back many discussions to share with our Cultural + Civic Studio and the rest of the firm.
We look forward to the 2019 Symposium in New York City!
