MCA Leadership Changes

By Stephen Bates, AIA, NCARB, President Emeritus

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

After 37 years with Marshall Craft Associates, I will be retiring and stepping down from my role as the firm’s President, effective January 1, 2024. My time with MCA has been professionally and personally rewarding as I have had the good fortune of working with a great team of professionals to successfully deliver one-of-a-kind projects across many sectors, developing lasting friendships with colleagues and business associates alike, and mentoring emerging professionals both in and outside of MCA. It has been a great ride with many proud moments and fond memories, but the time is now for me to start my next chapter working off a long list of personal projects that eagerly await my attention! At the request of the firm, I will be staying on part-time to continue supporting our clients with ongoing projects.

With this first step toward full retirement, I am very pleased to announce that Vice President Paul Van Riley, AIA will become President of MCA and Vice President Jasmine Purnell will take on an expanded role as both Treasurer and Corporate Secretary. I am confident that under their leadership, MCA continues to be in good, capable hands as they uphold our firm’s mandate to Do the Right Thing for our clients, our employees, and our community.

I wish you and your loved ones a prosperous 2024.

Best Regards,
