Located in the Francis Scott Key Pavilion at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the 1,100 SF renovation includes a new state-of-the-art Angiography imaging suites. Sitting directly below an interstitial floor, one of the most compelling challenges included addressing the infection control and negative pressure conditions associated with construction activity site containment. Infection control barriers had to extend all the way through the interstitial floor in order to open the ceiling to install the structural supports serving the new Siemens Artis Zee Biplane Equipment. The project’s interior design includes a floor pattern that mimics the “clear area requirements” for the new machine while it’s operating. Both a functional and visual cue, the floor pattern provides a guide reference point for staff, to make sure that all is clear before rotating the machine for a new image.
