After obtaining a degree in architecture from The University of Virginia, David pursued a Masters degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. He joined Marshall Craft Associates in 1991 and quickly became a Principal. In 2011, he transitioned into the Principal in Charge of the Healthcare Design Studio.
David has dedicated the majority of his career to applying best practices and strategies to the design of healthcare facilities. As a registered architect with Evidence-Based Accreditation Certification, Mr. Watts believes in applying evidence-based research and LEAN methodologies to each project. Through this approach, he is able to achieve solutions that benefit the patients, staff, and the facility’s financial and strategic initiatives.
Throughout his career, David has developed a comprehensive portfolio consisting of hundreds of projects for the region’s largest healthcare providers. He also served as the architectural client representative for the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi. In this role, he provided peer review on the design of two new 650-bed hospitals located in Al Ain and Al Mafraq.
Currently, David serves as the co-chair for the American Institute of Architects Baltimore Chapter of the Health and Wellness Committee. His position for this committee reflects his dedication to exploring the ways in which designing for wellness can be implemented on a wide scale from the individual and building to the greater community and city beyond.
